2nd ADVANSE Cross Border Conference
ADVANSE (abbreviation of Advansing University Financial Management Practices in South East Asia) is consortium funded by Erasmus+ EACEA European Union.
It aims at promoting the modernization of financial management practices and income diversification strategies in higher education institutions (HEIs) at regional level, with a view to sustainably strengthen the higher education systems and maximize the social return on inverstment in HE in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
The conference, attended by some 80s participants and presided over by Prof. Dr. Mardiasmo, MBA., Akt., Deputy Minister of Finance, was convened on July 5-6, 2018 at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia.
The first keynote speeches entitled : “Policy in financial management toward World Class University” was presented by Prof. Dr. Mardiasmo, MBA, Akt – Deputy Ministry of Finance,Republic of Indonesia. Another keynote speaker is former president of Saarland University , Prof. Dr. Volker Linneweber who delivered presentation about Finances in Higher Education Institutions : from an administrative to a management perspective.
The delegates from Universitas Sumatera Utara had also participated and delivered presentation in that event. On the 1st day of the conference, Prof. Dr. dr. M. Fidel Ganis Siregar, M.Ked. (O.G.), Sp. O.G. (K), vice rector for Finance and Human Resources USU delivered presentation entitled The Role of HEI Financial management in achieving World Class University.
On the 2nd day of the conference, Dr. Esther Sorta Mauli Nababan, M.Sc.- the head of International Affairs Office – USU delivered presentation entitled : International Cooperation : Best Practice – case of Universitas Sumatera Utara. The conference was concluded with the consortium meeting of the 9 ADVANSE members to identify the progress of three-year project and what steps should be taken before its closure on October 14, 2018.
