International Affairs Office (IAO) University of Sumatera Utara is the division under the Vice Rector for Planning & Cooperation, which provides expert support and guidance to the formal international relations of the University of Sumatera Utara. IAO contributes to the internationalization of the University through leadership and administrative support.

IAO facilitate international collaboration and coordinate activities designed to bring the university closer to our shared vision of USU being acclaimed internationally for its research, education and community service.

Some duties include the following :

• International University Cooperation Programs
• Advising and counseling of international students
• Providing support services and cultural and learning opportunities to international students.
• Advising USU students on studies abroad, including support in terms of scholarship research.
