The SPIRIT team from three Asian countries, namely Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka and three European countries, namely Spain, Cyprus, and Portugal, held a sports education curriculum syllabus on 15-22 June 2022 at the Universitas Sumatera Utara. SPIRIT stands for Sport and physical education as a vehicle for Inclusion and Recognition in India, Indonesia and Sri Lanka, which aims to increase the knowledge of young people or students about increasing exercise and physical activity to prevent non-communicable diseases. On June 21, 2022, the entire SPIRIT team who was visiting USU celebrated World Yoga Day by doing yoga together at the Hall of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara. The yoga movement was led by a yoga instructor from Lovely Professional University, Ms. Sakshi Sadhu, Assistant Professor (India), and began with a warm-up on the Maumere Dance by Dr. dr. Yetty Machrina, M. Kes, AIFO-K, SpKKLP (Indonesia). Yoga movements provide a good stretch for the body and calm for those who do it. Yoga movements also require high concentration so that the goal of this sport is achieved.
The activity to celebrate World Yoga Day is part of the SPIRIT Team's activities in preparing the sports education curriculum. The SPIRIT team will issue a curriculum guide to help students understand sports education. The outputs produced by this project are study programs, courses, and modules that can be integrated into the higher education curriculum. In this case, the Universitas Sumatera Utara is fully involved in supporting the training program for the preparation of this sports education syllabus.
USU's SPIRIT Coordinator, Prof. Dr. dr. Dina Keumala Sari, M. Gizi, SpGK (K) stated that the activities carried out for six days, not only resulted in learning objectives in the form of learning outcomes that could later be used as e-learning facilities between countries but also established collaborations between faculties in Asian and Asian countries. Europe. This aims to increase the capacity building of universities that are included in the SPIRIT project, funded by ERASMUS plus under the European Union.
