ERASMUS SPIRIT TEAM PLUS VISIT USU

The SPIRIT team from three Asian countries, namely Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka and three European countries, namely Spain, Cyprus, and Portugal, held a sports education curriculum syllabus on 15-22 June 2022 at the Universitas Sumatera Utara. SPIRIT stands for Sport and physical education as a vehicle for Inclusion and Recognition in India, Indonesia and Sri Lanka, which aims to increase the knowledge of young people or students about increasing exercise and physical activity to prevent non-communicable diseases. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the entire world's population to maintain health and most activities are carried out at home. Physical activity is also reduced and exercise is done outside is very limited, this causes the possibility to increase the incidence of diseases such as obesity, hypertension, and heart-blood vessel disease is much greater.
For this reason, the SPIRIT team is trying to issue a curriculum guide to help students understand sports education. The outputs produced by this project are study programs, courses, and modules that can be integrated into the higher education curriculum. In this case, the Universitas Sumatera Utara is fully involved in supporting the training program for the preparation of this sports education syllabus.
Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si, stated in the opening of the training on the preparation of the SPIRIT sports education syllabus that the most important thing is how we can respond to the phenomena that occur in the world today where health greatly affects various aspects of human life, so disease prevention is not necessary. infectious is necessary. The younger generation is a major milestone in disseminating to the public and implementing in their daily lives that increasing physical activity is very important in maintaining health. The great hope is that Indonesia will be free from the high number of deaths and illnesses caused by the disease. USU's SPIRIT Coordinator, Prof. Dr. dr. Dina Keumala Sari, M. Gizi, SpGK (K) stated that the activities carried out for six days, not only resulted in learning objectives in the form of learning outcomes which could later be used as e-learning facilities between countries but also collaborated between faculties in Asian and Asian countries. Europe. This aims to increase the capacity building of universities that are included in the SPIRIT project, funded by ERASMUS plus under the European Union.
