Rome, Italy – Prof. Dr. Sofyan, Head of the International Affairs Office at Universitas Sumatera Utara, recently represented Indonesia at Sapienza Staff Week 2024, held from October 14 to 18 at Sapienza University in Rome, Italy. The event, hosted by Sapienza's Head of Internationalization, Dr. Graziella Gaglione, brought together educational leaders and representatives from various countries to discuss international academic partnerships, PhD programs, and inclusive education.
Throughout the week, Prof. Dr. Sofyan discussed with international delegates, presenting Universitas Sumatera Utara's profile and mission on the opening day. The delegation was introduced to Sapienza’s campus, advanced facilities, and the University Museum of Earth Sciences (MUST), which marked the start of a collaborative journey.
Prof. Dr. Sofyan attended sessions on Sapienza’s PhD programs, with presentations from experts such as Prof. Trovalusci, Prof. Limatola, and Prof. D'Amelio, focusing on inclusive PhD courses and dual degree opportunities with partner institutions like the University of Veliko Tarnovo in Bulgaria. The discussions continued with a focus on mobility projects, the Overseas Program, and the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA), highlighting opportunities for Indonesian students at Sapienza.
Further sessions emphasized strategies for inclusivity, exploring policies on gender equality, support for disabilities, and inclusive internationalization approaches led by representatives from the National University of Córdoba, Argentina. The week concluded with presentations on Erasmus+ and the Jean Monnet Program, fostering dialogue on enhancing higher education and research networks in Europe.
Prof. Dr. Sofyan’s involvement in Sapienza Staff Week reflects Universitas Sumatera Utara’s commitment to global academic cooperation, expanding its international footprint and creating new opportunities for educational exchange with institutions worldwide. His contributions to Sapienza Staff Week 2024 strengthen USU's international ties and broaden opportunities for future collaborations.
