Medan, 5 November 2024 – A socialization event focusing on the latest immigration regulations took place today, aimed at updating officials and stakeholders on recent changes in visa policies and the enforcement of immigration laws. Held by the Directorate General of Immigration, the event gathered immigration officers, legal practitioners, and government representatives to discuss significant policy updates and enforcement strategies.

The "Sosialisasi Peraturan Keimigrasian" event began with registration at 08.30 AM, followed by the singing of Indonesia's national anthem, "Indonesia Raya." Attendees were welcomed with an opening speech from the head of the International Affairs Office, who emphasized the importance of adapting to regulatory changes for efficient immigration management.

New Visa and Residency Policies

The first session covered recent updates on visa issuance and residency permits. Representatives from the Immigration Office of TPI Polonia detailed new visa eligibility criteria and streamlined the permit application process. These changes, intended to facilitate smoother travel and residency experiences for foreign nationals, come in response to the increasing global mobility and Indonesia's growing role in international business and tourism.

A discussion session followed, allowing participants to ask questions and seek clarifications on the new policies.

Immigration Law Enforcement

The second session highlighted law enforcement for foreign nationals, covering measures to address legal violations and ensure compliance with immigration rules. Experts from the TPI Polonia office presented case studies, explaining how the revised laws are expected to strengthen immigration enforcement. This session emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining national security while fostering a welcoming environment for expatriates and visitors.

The event concluded with a closing statement, reinforcing the need for collaboration among immigration authorities to adapt to these regulatory changes effectively. The organizers noted that the schedule was subject to changes based on situational needs, ensuring flexibility in delivering critical information.

This event underscores Indonesia's proactive approach to updating immigration policies and legal frameworks, aligning with international standards, and addressing local needs.
