The Universitas Sumatera Utara and all SPIRIT project partner countries plan to develop student sports clubs. This effort is contained in the formation of the SPIRIT Club to raise the spirit of sports among students.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, most student activities were carried out online, decreasing physical activity. In addition, the closure of public sports facilities and restrictions on activities launched by the government made students' physical activities increasingly limited.
However, entering 2022 and in line with the decline in COVID-19 cases, the Chancellor of the Universitas Sumatera Utara formed the management of the SPIRIT Club, consisting of USU students. Establishing this SPIRIT Club aims to encourage physical activity exercise and increase the understanding of healthy nutrition among students. The decision to form the SPIRIT Club is contained in the Rector's Decree dated February 8th, 2022, Number 315/UN5.1.R/SK/KPM/2022, which decides on the formation of the USU SPIRIT Club.
As the Chairperson of the SPIRIT Club is M. Daffa Abiyyu and M. Siddik Nasution's deputy from the Faculty of Medicine, the secretary is Dessy Ramasari, and the treasurer is Ahya Zayyani Akmal from the Faculty of Dentistry. The SPIRIT Club consists of 26 students from all faculties at Universitas Sumatera Utara.
The plan for this SPIRIT Club program is to hold an online seminar on sports and nutrition planned in April 2022, holding sports competitions both general sports and traditional sports. In addition, there will be a healthy cooking art competition in the following month. In addition, another focus is to socialize sports not only among healthy people but also vulnerable groups such as the elderly and disabled. To visit SPIRIT Club Instagram please click:
